Guest: María Alejandra Araújo, Chief Product Officer of Salva Health
Thousands of women across Latin America lose their lives to breast cancer simply because screening doesn’t reach them in time. What if early detection could be portable, AI-powered, and designed for the communities that need it most?
María Alejandra Araújo, Chief Product Officer of Salva Health, speaks with Michael Bancroft about Julieta, Salva Health’s portable breast health screening device built to expand access in rural and underserved areas. In just 10–12 minutes, women complete a guided questionnaire and receive real-time results powered by AI. The system assesses risk factors, breast density, and bioimpedance patterns to help prioritize follow-up imaging and guide next steps. It’s not a diagnosis. It’s a smarter triage tool designed to reach women earlier.
We discuss why designing for non-clinical operators is critical in regions facing infrastructure and workforce shortages, how longitudinal data will strengthen AI accuracy over time, and how the insights gathered could influence public health policy across emerging markets. With regulatory approval secured in Colombia and expansion underway into additional countries, including the United States, Salva Health is scaling with purpose.
