The CPU has powered computing for decades — but it has also been the bottleneck.
Timo Valtonen, Co-Founder and CEO of Flow Computing, speaks to Michael Bancroft about a breakthrough designed to unlock a new era of performance.
Flow Computing has developed a licensable Parallel Processing Unit that works alongside existing CPUs, offloading parallel workloads into a purpose-built hardware engine. Instead of forcing sequential architectures to handle modern parallel demands, their approach adds a new layer of capability — scalable from hyperscale data centres to smartphones and wearables.
Spun out of VTT, the company is stepping into the global semiconductor spotlight at a time when compute demand is accelerating and companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta are investing heavily in custom silicon.
