Anthony Lacavera is the Founder and Chairman of Globalive, a startup studio and global investment firm. He is best known as the founder and CEO of WIND Mobile which he sold for USD$1.3 billion after it grew to become Canada’s fourth largest wireless carrier. A serial entrepreneur, he started his first business out of university with a small business loan from the Royal Bank of Canada.
As a venture capitalist, Anthony has a significant stake in dozens of startups in Canada as well as the United States. Since 1998, he has founded, co-founded, seeded, financed, operated and divested 12 companies. Anthony has invested in 95 companies in the technology, media and telecom industries over the past 15 years with 45 companies currently in Globalive’s venture portfolio. His most recent venture is Globalive Technology, a software development company that leverages emerging technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence.
As a mentor and investor, he is heavily involved in accelerators and incubators including Creative Destruction Lab (CDL), NEXT Canada and the DMZ at Ryerson University. Anthony has done business in more than 30 countries, his efforts ranging from producing plays on Broadway to raising almost CAD$2 billion in private capital. He is a regular television commentator and speaker on artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and the telecommunications industry. He was educated at the University of Toronto.
Michael Bancroft is the co-host of “The Feed with Amber Mac and Michael B” on SiriusXM, the top trending tech podcast and radio show. Michael was also an executive producer for Bloomberg TV overseeing all programming in Canada. For four seasons, he was presenter and executive producer of the internationally distributed technology TV show “App Central.”
Michael has worked for leading broadcast networks including CBS, CNBC, ABC, BNN and Network Ten. From all corners of the globe, he has covered everything from red carpets in Los Angeles to the jungles of Rwanda. Michael has worked with and reported on leaders in the fields of business, technology, politics and entertainment. He has a postgraduate certificate in Journalism from UCLA and an MBA in finance from Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
